THE CONTEXT OF YOUR INITIATIVE

We started this children home because Cuddalore district is one of the under developed area, industrial area, and lots of street children and child labour can be found in this area.

So we started this center to protect them and give them safe life. Regarding training for women, in our area lots of women do not have proper education and skill training, so we started this project in this center.

THE ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT AS PART OF YOUR INITIATIVE

15 children are staying in our centre .
We are providing tailoring, computer education and embroidering to rural women.
We are also providing organic agriculture training.
Eco tourism centre.

WHICH PARTNERS ARE YOU WORKING WITH ON THIS INITIATIVE?

At the beginning in 1992, we started working with street children in Cuddalore district. rnrnThen we constructed a permanent centre for them with the support of Emmaus International and now we are having permanent home for street, poor and orphan children,  both boys and girls, providing them  food, accommodation, health and education in this centre. Till date we have supported around 1000 children.rnrnWe are also providing different skill training to poor rural women to empower their life. We are having an organic multi farm to produce income and run the centre for long time towards sustainability.

FUTURE PROSPECTS

For past 24 years we have provided support to more than 1000 street, orphan and poor children in Cuddalore district. Some of them are now grown up and well educated and settled in their life.

We also provided training in different skill for around 1500 women in our area. Most of them are now in good jobs and also started their own business.

We plan to open an Emmaus shop to sell our farm products and also handicrafts made by our women to get more income to run our activities constantly and moving towards self-sustainable.
