EMMAÜS LAUSANNE

The Emmaus Lausanne community comprises 21 companions who do traditional Emmaus community work: collecting, sorting, repairing and reselling second-hand goods at low prices. If necessary, companions repair goods in their woodwork, electrics and bicycle repair workshops. The group also recycles wood, plastic, paper, cardboard, scrap iron and other metals. For companions who wish to stay in the community after retirement, the group built housing including spaces for seated work in 2009. Furthermore, the Emmaus Lausanne community takes part in the containers programme, sending goods to the Emmaus communities in La Chaux-de-Fonds and Jura, who send containers on to Emmaus organisations all over the world. Finally, the group supports a nutritional project and a prisoners' association in Mali.
