After 60 years of action the Emmaus Friends Committee in Berne became an Emmaus community in January 2017. The community is continuing with the actions led by the former Friends Committee and is carrying out the classic work done by Emmaus communities: collecting, sorting, repairing and selling on second-hand objects at low prices. The team at the community is also preparing to change site in order to be able host their first companions.

The long-term plan is to have 20 spaces at this first community in the German-speaking part of Switzerland. Working with social partners and volunteers has helped create a positive dynamic during this period of change.
