EMMAÜS FRIBOURG

The Emmaus Fribourg community came into being in 1985 after three consecutive international youth work camps were held in Fribourg. Today, the group comprises 16 companions who do traditional Emmaus community work: collecting, sorting, repairing and reselling second-hand goods at low prices. Furthermore, the Emmaus Fribourg community is a member of the "Table Suisse" organization, which collects surplus food from supermarkets and gives it to local organizations working alongside people affected by poverty. Twice a week, the community receives food collected by this organization. Finally, the Emmaus Fribourg community collects scrap metal and takes it to scrap metal merchants.
