Emmaus Caminho e Vida Porto is located in the centre of Porto. Companions live and work at the community, which is in an old renovated house that opened its doors to the companions in 2005. With the help of 20 volunteers, they carry out the traditional work of Emmaus communities – collecting, sorting, repairing and selling goods at low prices. Two companions repair furniture and domestic appliances every day. In 2008 Emmaus Caminho e Vida Porto bought a new house, which is used as a day centre where homeless people are given meals and can take a shower. It is also used to train volunteers.
