THE CONTEXT OF YOUR INITIATIVE

Tara is actively engaged in providing support to grassroots and marginalized persons in society by creating livelihood generation opportunities. Tara believes that ethical economy is vital for the peace and sustainability in our world. It is the right of each human being to have the possibility to get work, based on ethical and fair values. Skill development and capacity building trainings are also provided. Micro Credit initiatives is one of the important actions of the organization, that is helping the most needy to earn their adequate income in a respectable and dignified way.

THE ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT AS PART OF YOUR INITIATIVE

Tara aims to support grassroots by creating socio-economic opportunities with solidarity and granting financial support to start their micro livelihood generation activities, that helps to:

– develop and empower
– create livelihood generation for economically disadvantaged through Fair Trade
– bring positive impact on their lives
– give acceptance and dignity
– create awareness about the human rights
– prevent child labour
– create equity, women economic empowerment and freedom of association
– respect for the environment

WHO IS INVOLVED FROM OUR GROUP?

The work is carried out through paid employees and volunteers. In the association, there are 10 staff and 30 paid volunteers.

Since last four decades, Tara has been working to fight exploitation, poverty, illiteracy and protect the rights of the marginalized. The organization draws its inspiration from the basic values of Emmaus movement and Fair Trade.

Tara is engaged in providing support to grassroots producers and unprivileged sections of society through production of crafts and a number of community development actions. The resulting employability and fair earning capacity impacts the lives of thousands of needy people and help children to continue their education.

It campaigns against child labour, illiteracy and unfair trade practices. It works for socio-economic justice.

FUTURE PROSPECTS

We are able to impact the lives of thousands of men, women and children belonging to the downtrodden and marginalized section of society. More than 5000 persons men, women and children have a positive impact and are empowered through this initiative at present.
