A Roadmap for Eradicating Poverty Beyond Growth !

We economists have done the maths: ‘growth’ is a doomed strategy – there is a better way. Our roadmap has been shaped by experts across the world, from UN agencies to grassroots movements. We call on political leaders at all levels to use it.

The Guardian

The opinion piece was written by Olivier De Schutter, former UN Special Rapporteur on extreme poverty and human rights, together with François Denuit and Praachi Khera, Co-Directors of New Economies for Eradicating Poverty (NEEP) and is supported by more than 1,200 signatories from academia, the United Nations system, trade unions, civil society organisations and social movements across the Global North and South. Signatories include Joseph Stiglitz, Jayati Ghosh, Thomas Piketty, Jean Drèze, Kate Raworth, Jason Hickel, Pavlina Tcherneva, Ann Pettifor, Tim Jackson, Bhumika Muchhala, Lucas Chancel, Julia Steinberger, Ndongo Samba Sylla, Timothée Parrique, Fadhel Kaboub and many others. Carina Aaltonen, President of Emmaus International, is one of the signatories to this manifesto on behalf of the Movement.

The Roadmap puts forward a toolkit of concrete policy measures that offer a vision and strategy for building a global economy that places human rights, ecological justice, and participatory governance at its center.

It was co-constructed in partnership with trade unions, movements, UN agencies, academics, policymakers, and civil society around the world.
