Emmaus Africa is the decentralised organisation of Emmaus International in this part of the world. As such, it works in line with Emmaus International’s guidelines and decisions.

Since 2007, the date of its founding general assembly, it has united Emmaus organisations on the African continent and acts as a liaison and solidarity body for its members. It also aims to strengthen and safeguard the identity of the Emmaus movement in Africa. As a regional organisation, Emmaus Africa's mission is also to coordinate the region's organisations and train its members by setting up awareness-raising activities.

Today, the Africa region has 23 Emmaus groups (including 6 trial members) in 9 countries.
