Online Artwork Solidarity Sale!
As the Covid-19 pandemic will have a lasting impact on hundreds of Emmaus communities and groups across the globe, over 60 street artists have decided to donate one or more of their works in solidarity with our movement and Emmaus communities around the world. The online sale will take place from 12 June on KAZoART’s website, an online art gallery and our partner for this event.
In the 41 countries where Emmaus International works, most of the Emmaus groups’ income-generating activities were halted for several months and remain extremely limited, particularly in Asia, Africa and Latin America. The people supported by the Emmaus movement on a daily basis have suffered drastically from this crisis. In many countries the impact on day-to-day workers in the informal sector, the elderly and the homeless is horrifying.
To cope with the social and financial consequences of this pandemic, Emmaus International is organising a solidarity sale of street art starting on 12 June with the online art gallery KAZoART – a leading gallery selling artworks to art lovers in France. Over 70 pieces of art, specially donated to Emmaus International for this event by over 60 artists, will be sold for a fixed price.
All the profits from this sale will go to the Emmaus International emergency fund and will help to support its 410 member groups who run solidarity initiatives on the ground, including distributing food parcels, making and distributing hygiene products, healthcare campaigns and caring for the sick through Emmaus’ mutual health organisations, and financial support for people left with nothing as a result of the crisis.
