Des ponts pas des murs (Bridges Not Walls) network draws together some twenty human rights organisations, international solidarity organisations, migrant associations and exile support organisations to analyse migration issues from an international solidarity perspective.

It was set up in 2008 following a citizens' summit on migration and has since acted as a space for exchanging information and driving collective action. According to this network, migration has always been a human phenomenon and makes an invaluable social, cultural and economic contribution to society. This contribution, although historically recognised, is overlooked as priority is given to security and economic imperatives. Since its creation, Des ponts pas des murs has denounced the implementation of policies to combat so-called illegal immigration, which lead to grave violations of migrants’ rights, as well as the instrumentalization of public development policies in order to restrict freedom of movement.
