Since its creation in 1984, Yayasan Penghibur’s centre for children has received 250 extremely poor, sick or abused children.
They are given accommodation there throughout their schooling. The group finances its programmes through its agricultural activities (production of milk, mushrooms, tapioca and wood) and handicraft (furniture-making).
Thanks to these activities, over 20 years, Yayasan Penghibur has been able to distribute fresh milk to up to 7000 school children. A small medical centre has also been funded through the sale of agricultural and handicraft products.
There, the group supplies vitamins, food supplements, fresh milk and vaccines to young mothers and their babies. Lastly, the income generated through Yayasan’s activities has enabled the installation of 25 toilets and wells, benefitting 600 people. The group is also involved in reforestation.
